Can You Relax at the Dentist?

In our office, we value meeting out patients needs. But if you’d rather endure agony from a toothache rather than step foot into a dental office, we have a solution for you. A lot of people are phobic about going to the dentist that they prefer not to have any treatment. But most importantly you are not alone. We offer sedation dentistry, it’s a valuable service we offer to help our patients feel at ease during their treatment and can be used for everything from invasive procedures to a simple tooth cleaning. Our offices uses a oral conscious sedation, meaning you may communicate with us during treatment but not remember much of the procedure. Depending on the total dose given, oral sedation can range from minimal to moderate. It’s usually taken an hour before the procedure. The pill will make you drowsy, although you’ll still be awake. A larger dose may be given to produce moderate sedation. This is the type of anesthesia most commonly associated with sedation dentistry. Some people become groggy enough from moderate oral sedation to actually fall asleep during the procedure but can be awaken with a gentle shake.

We feel sedation is appropriate for people with anxiety that is preventing them from going to the dentist. Sedation dentistry may also be appropriate for people who have a low pain tolerance, get anxious sitting in the dentist chair, are experiencing moderate tooth sensitivity or need a large amount of treatment to be completed. We have a private sedation suit for your comfortability while in our office. If you feel sedation dentistry is for you, call our office for a complimentary consult! 619-276-6884, we can’t wait to meet you!
